Art team getting started
Hi everyone, I’m Andy, one of the developers for Pixel Planes at Tappy games. My roll here is pretty mixed so you will see a lot of different things coming out of my corner. To start things off I made P38 Lightning, I used John’s P40 for scale reference.
Once I modeled it I tossed it over to John for texturing. I then modeled a PanzerIV just so we had some targets while testing gameplay, again sent it to John for texturing.
Flying is cool but what you’re flying over is just as important so I began modeling some houses, had to get that Normandy France kinda vibe.
With those out of the way I made a kit that would allow me to make broken burned and blown out buildings.
Since I now had some things to dress the world with that's what I started with next, the world. I made a ground texture and a skybox, got everything to the correct scale and started plopping in assets.
The world still looked a little bleak so I modeled some trees for a bit of life.
By this time John had been making alot of cool assets and things were starting to come together. It won’t be long before we have a bunch of towns and farms scattering the landscape.
My plan moving forward is to get a road next work and continue to flush out a simple level we can have battles on!
